Recognised Agency – Food Control Plans and National Programmes
Recognised Agency – Food Control Plans and National Programmes
This scheme enables accreditation of MPI’s requirements for recognised agencies and persons undertaking evaluation or verification of Food Control Plan (FCP) and National Programmes.
This scheme replaces the previous MPI scheme for the Inspection and Verification of HACCP-based Food Safety Programmes (FSP), which was made redundant with the introduction of the Food Act 2014 and subsequent Food Notices which apply a more targeted risk based approach. This also aligns with other similar Recognised Agency and Person schemes for Bees, Dairy and Wine industries. MPI recognises and uses verifying agencies to audit and verify bee products RMPs so they can be registered with MPI.
Applicant CABs wishing to be recognised by MPI as verifying agencies for food control plans and national programmes will need to contract with MPI and meet any requirements as determined by MPI from time to time.
As an inspection scheme, applicants also need to comply with:
ISO/IEC 17020:2012 – Conformity assessment – Requirements for the operation of various types of bodies performing inspection;
ILAC-P15:05/2020: Application of ISO/IEC 17020:2012 for the Accreditation of Inspection Bodies
In addition, the scheme requires conformity assessment bodies to meet the requirements of:
MPI Food Notice, Requirements for Recognised Agencies and Persons, 30 September
MPI Food Notice – Requirements for Food Control Plans and National Programmes, 25 May 2017
