Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) - JAS-ANZ Response

UPDATE: As a result of COVID-19 and in consideration of the health and well-being of our staff, contractors, CABs and certified organisations; JAS-ANZ will be postponing, canceling or making alternate arrangements for a number of assessments at this time.

On 11 March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the current outbreak of COVID-19 a pandemic. In the interest of protecting the safety, health and wellbeing of our people, Conformity Assessment Body’s (CABs) and Certified organisations, JAS-ANZ has implemented the following measures:

  • all non-essential international business travel for JAS-ANZ personnel is suspended until further notice.
  • essential international business travel requests will be subject to risk assessment.
  • adoption of alternate potential short-term methods of assessment to verify continuing system effectiveness of conformity assessment bodies outside of Australia and New Zealand through utilisation of:
    • in-country resources (contractors)
    • other IAF member Accreditation Body’s
    • remote assessment tools and methods
    • any alternate approach approved by JAS-ANZ General Manager Services
  • all trans-Tasman travel arrangement, including assessment, are to be booked as fully flexible in consideration of the increased risk of cancellation.

JAS-ANZ asks that its people (personnel and contractors) who have:

  • either themselves or their close family members, left or transited through Category 1a countries and territories in the last 14 days to undertake 14 days self-isolation starting from the date of the departure from that country or territory.
  • left, or transited through Category 1b countries and territories in the last 14 days to undertake 14 days self-isolation starting from the date of the departure from that country or territory.
  • recently travelled from Category 2 countries and territories should be aware of the COVID-19 symptoms. Anyone who develops symptoms within 14 days of departing the Category 2 country and territory should seek medical advice.
  • been in close contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus in the last 14 days must undertake 14 days self-isolation starting from the date of last contact with the confirmed case.
  • been or are currently in isolation, due to one of the above situations notify JAS-ANZ at the earliest opportunity.

JAS-ANZ asks that CABs and Certified Organisations:

  • implement measures in response to COVID-19, in accordance with official Australian Government COVID-19 guidelines to proactively prevent the spread of COVID-19 so far as they are able.
  • contact JAS-ANZ immediately if someone in their organisation has a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 that could affect JAS-ANZ people.
