JBS Farm Assurance Programme

JBS Farm Assurance Programme

JBS developed their farm assurance programme which was first implemented in 2011, providing assurance to JBS Australia and its customers that its suppliers consistently meet required food safety and animal welfare standards in their farming practices for this market.

The basis of the program revolves around ensuring the supply chain from producer to processor meets expected standards for Food Safety, Animal Welfare, Quality assurance and traceability. A majority of the processes contained within the programme focuses on documentation, management recording systems and provides the information required to complete animal status declarations to accompany livestock sent for processing.

With a commitment to maintaining the highest levels of food safety, animal welfare, product quality and customer service, JBS Australia is a leading supplier of Australian beef and lamb products around the world. JBS Australia exports to more than 80 countries while also maintaining significant market share in the domestic beef and lamb market.

This is a product certification scheme with audits performed by an independent Certification Body (AsureQuality) accredited to ISO/IEC 17065:2012 – Conformity assessment – Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services.

  • Each farm that is placed onto the JBS (Australia) Approved Suppliers list will have a standard allocated to it that is dependent upon its level of compliance, with three levels being Gold, Silver and Bronze.
  • Gold standard recognition enables beef and lamb producers to demonstration that they comply with the JBS Farm Assurance Programme, and fully meet requirements of animal welfare and food safety.
  • Supports the supply of high quality, premium product for domestic and export markets.
