Introducing the NDIS Approved Quality Auditors Scheme

JAS-ANZ launched its National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Approved Quality Auditors Scheme in July 2018 and is welcoming applications.

The objective of the scheme is to support the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (the Commission) to make decisions relating to the approval of an Approved Quality Auditor.

Approved Quality Auditors play an important role in the NDIS. People and service providers applying to the Commission to be a registered NDIS provider must be first assessed by an Approved Quality Auditor as meeting the applicable standards and other requirements prescribed by the NDIS Practice Standards. The NDIS Practice Standards create a benchmark for NDIS providers to assess their performance, and to demonstrate how they provide high quality and safe supports and services to NDIS participants.

JAS-ANZ is the sole accreditation body responsible for the accreditation of CABs against the NDIS Approved Quality Auditors Scheme. To be approved by the Commission as an Approved Quality Auditor, you are therefore required to undergo a JAS-ANZ assessment.

What does this mean for CABs?

JAS-ANZ accredits CABs seeking to become Approved Quality Auditors to the following:

  • National Disability Insurance Scheme (Approved Quality Auditors Scheme) Guidelines 2018
  • ISO/IEC 17065:2012 - Conformity assessment — Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services
  • JAS-ANZ Accreditation Manual
  • JAS-ANZ Policy 03/11 - Transfer of Accredited Management Systems Certification.

To successfully gain accreditation, CABs will have to demonstrate a high commitment to upholding the rules and principles of both the scheme and administrative law. CABs will also need to continuously deliver value to service providers to support the Commission’s goal of providing enhanced NDIS services and outcomes to users of the services.

The application to participate in the scheme details additional requirements that CABs must satisfy to participate in the scheme. If interested in applying, please fill out the JAS-ANZ application enquiry form to get started.
