Information Technology Service Management Systems Certification Scheme

The Information Technology Service Management Systems certification scheme was developed to support certification of an organisation’s service management system (SMS) to ISO/IEC 20000-1 – Information technology - Service management - Part 1: Service management system requirements. Compliance with ISO/IEC 20000-1 is aimed at improving service management through providing requirements for the design, transition, delivery and improvement of services, thereby providing value for both the customer and the service provider.

The requirements for Certification Bodies providing this type of certification is based on ISO/IEC 17021-1, with additional requirements being documented in ISO/IEC 20000-6 – Information technology – Service management – Part 6: Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of service management systems.  This document adds some additional requirements around the competence of certification body personnel and audit planning and implementation
