Disability Employment and Supported Employment Services Scheme (DES/SES)

The scheme was developed by the Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS) and JAS-ANZ, and is based on the National Standards for Disability Services (NSDS). The NSDS enable nationally consistent quality standards to apply for the disability services sector. They focus on person-centred approaches and promote choice and control by people with disability, in line with the requirements of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Providers of Disability Employment Services and/or Supported Employment Services must achieve and maintain certification to the NSDS to receive funding from DSS. Additionally, until new quality and safeguarding arrangements are in place for the NDIS, on application for NDIA registration, new DES/SES providers shall demonstrate evidence of a contract with a certification body for provision of certification to the NSDS as guided by HS Part 3, and achieve certification within 12 months of their NDIA registration date.

Applicant CABs will need to comply with DES/SES Scheme (HS Scheme Part 3), Additional requirements for bodies certifying Disability Employment Services and Supported Employment Services. Applicants also need to comply with Human Services Scheme Part 1, Common requirements for bodies certifying Human Services as the DES/SES Scheme calls up Part 1. As this is a product scheme, applicants also need to comply with ISO/IEC 17065:2012 – Conformity assessment - Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services.
