The Australian Community Industry Certification Scheme (ACICS) supports service providers delivering community support services. Community support services encompass services commonly delivered at a person’s home or in their community to enable them to live independently. Such services include: nursing care, personal assistance, domestic services, community access, vocational support, educational support, child care services, gardening/home maintenance, respite care, palliative care, social support and therapy program support.

The ACICS was developed by the Australian Community Industry Alliance (ACIA) formerly the Attendant Care Industry Association (ACIA), a peak body for Community Service providers and Independent Community Service Users across Australia.

Scheme requirements

Applicant CABs will need to comply with the Australian Community Industry Certification Scheme - Requirements for bodies certifying attendant care service providers (ACICS). This document is available to purchase through ACIA.

As a product scheme, applicants will also need to comply with ISO/IEC 17065:2012 – Conformity assessment - Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services. This standard is available from ISO directly or through Standards Australia or Standards New Zealand.
