Association of Accredited Certification Bodies

Association of Accredited Certification Bodies

AACB (Association of Accredited Certification Bodies) is an industry association that represents accredited certification bodies (also referred to as Conformity Assessment Bodies) across a broad range of certification markets.

AACB assists its members by promoting the use of accredited certification, represents its members in liaising with accreditation and industry bodies, and supports the continual improvement of certification schemes and regulatory frameworks to deliver the best possible outcomes for end users of third-party certification.

Membership to an Industry body like the AACB demonstrates to industry and other interested parties that your company is committed to abiding by the legal and ethical requirements of membership to the AACB and also its commitment to remaining knowledgeable about what is happening in the industry.

The stated mission of AACB is:

To ensure accredited certification of management systems, products and personnel is understood, accepted and valued by key stakeholder groups, including government, industry associations and, both, public and private organisations.

Business Objectives:

  • To have organisations who engage a AACB member, receive a credible service that facilitates organisational improvement and the reduction of operational risk;
  • To be accepted and respected as the voice of accredited certification bodies in Australia by relevant accreditation bodies;
  • To Maximise the impact of the AACB through the establishment of coalitions with parties of interest in our sphere;
  • To share relevant information between members to provide a platform of views on key issues.

AACB members are not the biggest certification bodies in the world, but because JAS-ANZ accreditation treats all certification bodies the same, this is not an issue. All certification bodies, big and small have to meet the same requirements. This includes demonstrating that we do what we say we do. Every accredited certification body has to demonstrate its commitment to customers and we have to measure how well we do this.

AACB members are committed to providing a consistently high level of service and if an individual member can’t provide the certification you require, they can refer you to another AACB member who can in the knowledge that you will get a consistent level of service.

We meet regularly as part of a peer review process and exchange of information to ensure we are achieving this objective and to liaise with JAS-ANZ and other stakeholders. While we compete with each other in the market place we also cooperate to ensure we represent accredited certification with integrity and impartiality.
