Occupational Health and Safety System Scheme

The scheme is based on the following Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) management system standards:

  • AS/NZS 4801
  • National Self Insurer OHS Audit Tool (NAT)
  • OHSAS 18001
  • SafetyMAP
  • SS 506: Part 1.

An effective OHS management system satisfies OHS regulatory requirements and eliminates or minimises the risk to employees and others who are exposed to the activities of the organisation.

Applicant CABs will need to comply with JAS-ANZ Procedure 2, Part 1 - Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems.

As a management systems scheme, applicant CABs will need to comply with ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015 – Conformity Assessment – Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems.


  • Promotes effective and efficient OHS management and provides a framework for an effective OHS management system for organisations.
  • Assures staff, customers and other external stakeholders that OHS risks are being measured and reduced.
